So a website with a link that says “now” goes to a page that tells you what this person is focused on at this point in their life. For short, we call it a “now page”.

Life

After a great week of couple of community events and birthday celebrations, I realized how badly the unemployment has been causing me a cabin fever. As soon as I got out there and got some stuff done, I started feeling so much better and got so much more stuff done. Staying alone at home all day has a strong tendency to make my thoughts spiral and it's hard to find positivity and balance in that.

Work

While nothing confirmed didn't happen on the work sector the past month, quite a few good potential sprouts started popping out. I'm in a couple of really exciting recruitments right now and have had good early discussions on a few others. I'm really hoping some of these pan out positively.

Communities

On the community front, life's been real good. Turku ❤️ Frontend had a great first event a month ago and we're heading towards the second this week. I also started working on the calendar for next spring and I have some really exciting ideas brewing up. Archipylago didn't have an event this month but we have two still coming this year: a meetup on Nov 14th and an Advent of Code sprint on Dec 12th.

I gave a talk at Aurajoki Overflow about why developers should write blogging and it was very well received. I also got booked to do the same talk in another meetup this fall which is great news.

At Koodiklinikka we just wrapped up this year's salary survey with over 730 participants providing their salary and billing information for the community's benefit. I love how we as a community can help each other out.

Tiny joys

I took the train to Helsinki for a couple of days to celebrate one friends' 30th and another one's 35th birthday last weekend and it was lovely. I got to catch up with so many old friends I haven't seen in ages and we had so many good lovely discussions. I also slept so well at the hotel which did wonders.
