Pokémon TCG 2 Player Retro Cube

This is a cube for Pokémon TCG to be played with two players. It was created by Andrew Mahone and it's such a fun, low-powered cube with some of the most iconic early cards.

This cube is built around some of the heroes of the early Pokémon TCG: Hitmonchan, Scyther, Electabuzz and Mewtwo that form a really cool rock-paper-scissors style balance through weakness and resistance. Cleffas are great for setting up through card draw. Erika's Dratini, Mr. Mime, Haunter, Sandshrew, Light Jolteon and Lickitung provide control/stall. Dittos provide flexibility.

Where the Pokémon are low on power, early Trainers were bonkers strong. It's important to realise that when playing with 40 card decks, you'll deck out really fast if you go all out on playing the strong Trainer cards. My best advice is to chill.

Yellow Ultimate Guard deck box with two of its smaller containers next to it. One has a stack of cards, showing Sandslash and another has a stack of cards showing a Psychic energy. In front of them, a token container showing a few dice and special condition markers.

I store my cube in Ultimate Guard's Twin Flip 'n' Tray Xenoskin 160+ that fits the deck, 60 basic energies (20 of each: Fighting, Psychic, Lightning) and dice.

How to draft and play

To draft, shuffle the 80 card deck and taking turns, draw 8 cards and split them into two piles (don't have to be 4 each). The player who didn't do the split, gets to choose which pile they want to add to their draft pool. The other player then takes the other pile.

Continue this until all 80 cards have been drafted.

Each player then creates a 40 card deck by adding Basic Energies from outside the draft to their deck.

Games are played with 4 prizes each.
