End of year self-reflection with Year Compass

Close 2024, Plan 2025

Regardless of whether you journal daily or have never journaled, I recommend taking a moment from one of your days before the year ends, check out Year Compass and take a moment to look back at the ending year and forward to the next one.

I discovered Year Compass in 2015 and have been using it ever since every year. It’s a booklet of prompts that help you reflect on the past and next year. You can get closure for the happenings of the past and inspiration and plans for the coming year.

Since 2016, I’ve published my own Year in Review posts that are a public facing part of my private Year Compass reflections. You don’t have to publish them or show yours to anyone if you wish to keep your reflections your own.

This year, I started doing monthly recap notes where I go through my journals for the month at the end and write down my feelings, thoughts and highlights of the month to make it easier to remember in December what actually happened in April or May as those months are often so forgettable.

This year I’m excited to see how writing those notes ends up impacting my end of year reflections this year as I feel I have a better grasp of especially how I felt about life each month instead of my thoughts being skewed towards the more recent months.
