Couple of great Python podcasts

Batteries included is a blog series about the Python Standard Library. Each day, I share insights, ideas and examples for different parts of the library. Blaugust is an annual blogging festival in August where the goal is to write a blog post every day of the month.

Python is a great programming language and if you’ve been following along the Batteries included series throughout this month, you’ve probably noticed how much I like it.

What makes Python special though isn’t just its syntax and standard library but its wonderful community. Meetups, conferences, community libraries and tools are what really makes me happy. There are also a lot of podcasts about Python and today I wanted to share some of my favorites with you.

core.py

Pablo Galindo’s and Łukasz Langa’s core.py podcast is a lovely one focused on the internals of Python.

They have such great chemistry and the podcast is as funny as it is informative. Normally, language development is bit outside my interests but listening to these two makes it a great experience to learn more about what’s happening under the hood and how Python is moving forward.

Python Bytes

Python Bytes is a weekly podcast by Michael Kennedy and Brian Okken that goes through the news of the week in Python world as well as talk about Python events organized and libraries and tools built by people in our wonderful community.

I really like that most podcasts are around 20-30 minutes, making them perfect snack-sized listening for short commutes or walks.

Hidden Figures of Python

Hidden Figures of Python shines the spotlight and tells the stories of developers from underrepresented groups in the Python community. The podcast is run by Cheuk Ting Ho, Georgi Ker, Mariatta and Tereza Iofciu who make a fantastic team for the podcast.

Django Brew

While I’ve been almost exclusively writing this month about Python without external dependencies, I’m making a small exception here to tell you about Django Brew, a lovely Django podcast by Adam Hill and Sangeeta Jadoonanan.

It’s on its early steps so you can catch it from the beginning before the episode list grows to intimidating size.

More good ones

If you already follow all these and want to find even more Python podcasts, I shared a larger list in our local Python community’s blog earlier this year.
