Network stress test for my smart home

In my note for home automation, I listed three main principles I try to follow when setting up new devices and automations to my home system and the second one was
Everything that doesn’t require internet must be doable with local network only with no access to Internet.
When setting up new home automation goodies while connected to internet, it’s easy to accidentally build something that requires internet access without you noticing.
Last Wednesday, I woke up to a notification that my broadband connection had been disconnected and while I couldn’t access the web, I decided it was a good time to stress test the network part of my setup.
I went through all my automations and scripts, tested my switches and sensors and to my delight, everything worked as planned.
The only thing that obviously didn’t was being able to connect to my home network from outside so I couldn’t trigger things from my phone on my way to home but that’s just a nice bonus benefit and not in any way a crucial part of the system.
Of course, it would be good to test these periodically when I have internet connection in case I need to download some new integrations or so. But sometimes you don’t and then you get to test them in real situations when shit hits the fan.
